The SCHOOL BAG PROJECT

One of the concrete problems faced by parents from the urban poor communities every school year is the difficulty in providing school supplies for their children. It is always a struggle for parents to provide for their children due to very meager daily income.

In this light, the Urban Poor Resource Center of the Philippines, under the Projects and Services Program, conducted its second, "The School Bag Project." Launched last year, the School Bag Project aims to distribute school bags with basic school supplies to urban poor children in the elementary level.

For this school year, more than 300 school bags with basic school supplies were distributed to school children of Pechayan, Camarin, Caloocan CIty; Plastikan, Dona Nicasia, Brgy. Commonwealth, QC; Sitio San Roque, Brgy. Bagong Pag-asa, QC and; Kasiglahan Village, Montalban, Rizal. Turnover ceremonies took place on June 11, June 12 and June 18.
